Reunion Craft

Our family reunion for the Scherle Family takes place at the end of August. We will be gathering at LutherLand camp just outside of Regina. This year they have decided to add a little Silent Auction with the proceeds going to offset the rental costs. On behalf of my family I have created a table runner and napkins.

Stef and I found some great fabric at Fabricland.
And the added touch the will represent our family is the ladybug. I cross stitched a single ladybug and sewed it onto the table runner.
The package offers the table runner and 8 napkins. I am very proud of my work.

Baseball BBQ

The first weekend of June we had a Baseball BBQ. It was great fun. Nearly every one's comment was "I can't remember the last time I played baseball". That being said, everyone did great - and the weather was also great.

There were many cops: (back) Troy, Baldwin, (Center) AJ, Logan, (Right) Alex, Craig.

We had enough people to have two full teams. Everyone got involved - here my theatre friend Mark is pitching. Mark, Aaron (TD at Theatre Calgary) Matt (from Do It With Class) were all on my team - let's say team TFD (so named by Steve).
Stef pitching and AJ on the other team-team 2.
Team 2 - Craig, Alex and Logan. Steve, the runner on third, on TFD.
Logan's partner from Vancouver arrived with his wife Pam and daughter Madison.
Jason on Team 2, Aaron (Tech Director) TFD.
Craig and Logan in the field.
TFD waiting to bat :Matt, Aaron, Steve, Kate (Troy's wife),Mark, Andy's Wife, Kendal (Baldwin's wife) and Nathan (Kendra's husband, Auntie Brenda's step-daughter).
Andy and his wife are fresh from the UK and had never played baseball before. They were great fun.
TFD again.
Tyler batting, Kendra catching (Auntie Brenda's step-daughter)
Stef, AJ and Jason - Team 2. Kendra (my good friend from Regina) on first.
Team 2 - Miranda, Andy, Baldwin, Craig.
When we called the game, Team 2 was ahead by a couple of points. We finished our beers and walked back to our house for hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta salad, spinach strawberry salad and trifle for dessert.
AJ, Matt, Aaron.
Tyler, Stef, Jason and Craig.
Mark. (Mark and Matt were in town working on "The Producers" at Stage West.)
We had some food and some beers. Many people stuck around into the night for a fire.

First day of summer

The 21st was the first day of Summer. And we celebrated in a very appropriate way...

We had central air installed. It is glorious. Especially since it has been so hot these past few days. One of the fellows Logan works with installs AC on the side. He charged us the wholesale cost of the unit and just $500 for his full day installing it. A great deal!

Our work nearly complete

Our list of things to do in the yard (this year) has been completed.
The Garage was completed June 11. (we are just waiting on their return to clean/finish the areas that were dug up).
Logan completed the structure of the fence a while ago, but yesterday we finished all of the rails, the latch on the gate, cutting the posts down to size.

The yard is really starting to look nice too.

Hung some hooks on the fence for hanging baskets.

I love the cool flowers.

Bought an outdoor rug for the deck and some new potted plants.

Planted the front garden too.
And we bought a tree. Dropmore Linden.
And planted the vegetable garden.
The grass to the right of the garden is the space that we added to the yard by moving the fence to the property line.
Logan has spent much time organizing his space.

And our attic storage system. Logan demonstrating the pull down ladder.

And moved all of our camping stuff, Christmas stuff and winter tires upstairs.

We spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out on our deck, drinking Corona and getting a bit sun burned.
